Recent events

We recognise the importance of active engagement with our community and are committed to seeking your input on the issues that are important to you, in a number of ways.

Broadmarsh Fire Review

We have concluded an investigation into a blasting incident that resulted in a grass fire on 11 January 2021. We recently attended the Broadmarsh/Elderslie Progress Association meeting to share the investigations findings, and most importantly, discuss the actions we have committed to that will improve the way this work is managed in the future.

Policy and Regulatory Working Group

The Policy and Regulatory Working Group (PRWG) acts as an advisory group on the development of TasNetworks’ distribution pricing strategy. The broad representation within this group, from electricity retailers, energy advisors, customer advocates and representatives of the business community, allows a diverse range of customer views to be represented, discussed and heard.

Each quarter, the PRWG meets to collaborate on the development of our 2024-29 pricing strategy. These workshops provide a platform for two-way and transparent communication, with the aim of building and evolving effective relationships between TasNetworks and its stakeholders and customers.

Customer Council

We value our relationship with you and our Customer Council is one of the ways we encourage two-way communication.

Our Customer Council is made up of Tasmanian customers and consumer representatives and assists us to have an ongoing conversation about issues that interest you, such as the price, reliability and safety of electricity, the costs and benefits of possible projects, and the environmental impacts of our business.

Partnerships

We provide funding to like-minded, community-based organisations to deliver an initiative that'll make a tangible, long-term difference to the Tasmanian community.

Bright Sparks School Program

Our free electrical safety in schools program educates primary-school aged kids across Tassie about the safe use of electricity. Trained presenters deliver interactive sessions tailored to children (kindergarten to Year 6) that run for a minimum of 45 minutes. Would you like us to visit your child’s school? Find out more

STEAM Program

Our TasNetworks Graduates engage with the community through the delivery of the STEAM Program. STEAM aims to encourage interest in the STEM disciplines and create opportunities and pathways for young Tasmanians. The program also provides graduates with the opportunity to engage with the local community, while further developing their leadership and communication skills.

Through the program, graduates deliver science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics related design challenges to young Tasmanians through ongoing local school partnerships, community partnerships and public events. Some notable events that STEAM are involved in annually include AgFest, Kid I Am, and the Festival of Bright Ideas. Each year, the graduate group aim to grow the program and community awareness of STEAM careers through furthering the program’s reach and developing innovative new activities. Find out more
