Customers at the centre of our Regulatory Proposals
Every five years, TasNetworks develops and submits a regulatory proposal to the Australian Energy Regulator, detailing our plans to operate, maintain and upgrade the electricity network. This is known as a Revenue Reset.
Keeping the electricity network running safely, reliably and ready for the future requires careful long-term planning and investment, shaped by the views of our customers and communities.
To deepen our understanding of what matters most to our customers and help guide the decisions we make as we develop our 2029-34 Regulatory Proposal, we’ve assembled a People’s Panel!
What is the People's Panel?
The People’s Panel is a group of 41 Tasmanians who represent our diverse customer base. Over the course of approximately 50 hours, they will work closely with us to explore challenges, consider trade-offs, and help answer our key question: how can we deliver safe and sustainable electricity to all Tasmanian’s into the future?
Meet and greet session
The first meeting of the People’s Panel took place in Launceston in March, with a Panel Meet and Greet event, bringing together over 40 customers from across Tasmania to begin their role in shaping the future of our network.
The day focused on building connections, with panel members getting to know one another before diving into what their role will involve. The group heard from our CEO, Sean Mc Goldrick and some of our senior leaders who shared insights from across the business and some of the challenges we face as we plan for the future.
From the outset, the energy in the room was clear. Panel members showed strong engagement and brought a wide range of perspectives and motivations for being part of the process - highlighting the value this group will bring.
The Panel will continue to meet six times over the coming months to learn more about the electricity network, explore the challenges and discuss the choices we need to make to develop our 2029-34 Regulatory Proposal.
Their recommendations will help inform our proposal and guide decisions that affect households and communities across Tasmania.
