Our 2027 Graduate streams:

Electrical Engineering
Graduate Electrical Engineers rotate through a wide variety of teams across the business, because electrical energy is kinda our thing! This includes teams that support deep technical knowledge and network modelling, through to active problem solving in the field. You’ll try a range of options, enabling you to build your preferred area of specialisation.

Mechanical Engineering
From Design & Estimation, to Field Engineering and Project Management, our Graduate Mechanical Engineers complement all teams in the business, and are supported with knowledge building in electrical engineering as well. Get ready for some field trips!

Business
As a Business Graduate, you are empowered to drive your rotations in the direction of your preferred career – whether strategic or operational. This could include rotations in any of the following teams: Finance, Analytics, People, Operations, Governance, Environment, and Regulation.

Cyber
As a specialised discipline, our Cyber Graduates remains with the Cyber team for the entirety of their Graduate contract. This enables you to gain deep, practical experience in a highly complex and evolving environment!

Finance
As a Finance Graduate, you will explore several teams within our Finance & Regulation business unit. However, there are also opportunities to reach further into the business – for example, Operational teams.

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Graduates gain an understanding of the organisation, its policies, processes, standards and culture, by rotating around the business on a regular basis. To be successful in this stream, you are an individual of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and have a tertiary qualification in any field – Business, Finance, Engineering, IT, etc.

Experience the power of community connection
TasNetworks Graduates are responsible for the delivery of the STEAM Program, which encourages interest in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics disciplines and pathways with young Tasmanians.
With your TasNetworks graduate cohort, you’ll design and deliver fun, hands-on challenges that show kids that STEAM starts early! Along the way, you’ll build your leadership, communication, and creative problem-solving skills.
Graduates deliver STEAM challenges in school classrooms and public events, including Agfest and the Festival of Bright Ideas.

What is the application process?
Firstly, you’ll complete an application, with your resume and cover letter attached. These will then be reviewed by our Careers team.
If you reach the next stage, you will prepare a video or presentation showcasing what you will bring to the graduate program.
The final stages include an interview, some aptitude testing, and reference checking.
We know this sounds daunting! But our Careers team will be there to support you every step of the way, to make the process as comfortable as possible.

The program commences in February each year.

Disciplines vary each year depending on what our business requires, however candidates with the following degrees are encouraged to apply:

How long is the program and when does it start?
The Graduate Program is a 2 year program commencing early February each year.

Do you accept applications from international students?
Being on a VISA doesn’t stop you from applying for the Graduate Program! However, we do require either permanent residency or a length of stay that goes beyond the end of the program.

Please address your cover letter to the ‘TasNetworks Talent & Early Careers Team’.

What can I expect at the interview?
Firstly, if you progress through to an interview – congratulations, as our graduate program is highly sought after! You can expect a formal interview via Microsoft Teams, consisting of general questions, behavioural based questions and technical based questions. We love to have fun so we aim to add an activity into the interview. Please refer to the Candidate Coach for further assistance.

What training and development will I be given?
You will learn from industry professionals in your field, have a dedicated mentor for the duration and complete a Project Management qualification – just to name a few!

What are rotations?
During your graduate contract, you will ‘rotate’ around the business into different teams relevant to your background and aspirations. For example, an Engineering Graduate may work across teams including Field Engineering, Network Planning and Asset Management.
