Some industries require you to work near our assets. There are rules that state how close you can work around our assets in order to maintain a safe distance, as well as training you may need to have.
What training do I need to work around overhead powerlines?
To work around overhead powerlines, you either need to have completed the relevant training or, when you’re working near overhead powerlines, be supervised by someone who's completed the relevant training.
Need tiger tails?
For our overhead powerlines, please send us an enquiry. You'll need to provide contact details and an outline of what's required, including a list of pole numbers. There's a timeframe and cost associated with this. If you want to put tiger tails on your service line, please contact us and we'll refer you to our external contractor (a fee will apply).
No one may work within the 3m No Go Zone of powerlines, unless they have advised TasNetworks and received written authorisation for the work.
TasNetworks must be consulted about proposed works on 1300 137 008 if:
- The Authorised Person is unsure about the risk, or
- There is a risk that workers, plant or equipment could come within an unsafe distance of electrical infrastructure; enter Zone C (No Go Zone); or the works could interfere with our electrical infrastructure or its support
To find out more about working near powerlines, visit WorkSafe Tasmania.
To be trained as an Authorised Person, you need to complete either UETTDREL16A Working safely near live electrical apparatus or UETTDREL14A Working safely near live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker.
Our Training Centre delivers training for UETTDREL14A Working safely near live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker. If you require training to become an Authorised Person please contact us.
