What we fund
The Bright Futures Fund is investing $10 million into local projects that deliver lasting benefits to communities surrounding the North West Transmission Developments. Funding is available across different tiers to support ideas at all stages, from new concepts through to larger, established projects.
Eligible local government areas
To be eligible for funding, projects must deliver benefits in at least one of the following local government areas (LGAs) that the North West Transmission Developments project spans:- Burnie
- Central Coast
- Kentish
- Meander Valley
- Northern Midlands
Core application requirements
The core application requirements consist of six key focus areas and four key core values outlined below. An Information Pack with further eligibility information will be available for download from the website when the Bright Futures Fund launches on 19 June 2026. Focus areas
Projects must have a positive impact on the community in at least one of the following six focus areas:- Supporting emotional, mental, and/or physical health
- Preserving, benefiting and/or enhancing the environment
- Providing community infrastructure, and/or accessibility to community services, including transport
- Delivering community arts initiatives, including events
- Providing skills, training, and/or education
- Encouraging a sense of community.
Core values
Projects must also demonstrate one or more of the following core values (higher funding tiers must demonstrate all four of these values):- Inclusion – making sure as many people as possible can take part and benefit, including people from different backgrounds and communities.
- Accessibility – removing barriers that might stop people from participating, such as physical access, language, or literacy challenges.
- Lasting impact – creating benefits that continue even after the project has finished.
- Environmental sustainability – delivering the project in a way that reduces harm to the environment and considers long-term environmental impacts.

For example, ‘start-up’ projects that develop or test new ideas may be submitted under Tier 1, with Tier 2 applications further developing and expanding an existing or new project.
Proven, successfully trialled projects or existing projects/organisations with a track record will be expected for Tier 3 and 4 funding. Proposals for the higher tiers will be expected to have broad reach and impact, and detailed delivery approaches, with staged funding to meet agreed milestones and/or key performance indicators.
