Tariff Trial

TasNetworks’ costs make up around half the average Tasmanian power bill. We are conducting a Trial to better understand how and when our customers use electricity. This will help us with our plans for the future.

The Trial will involve 600 residential customers selected from the Bridgewater, Brighton, Lower Midlands and surrounding areas. The map on the right provides on overview of the Trial area.

We have chosen this area as there is a good cross section of household types and it is an area where we may need to upgrade the electricity network soon. The information we get from the Trial will also help us to better understand customers’ power usage patterns.

What's happening?

The first phase of recruitment is complete and we have recruited more than 200 customers. New meters that allow more information to be collected about power usage will be installed at the homes of participants from 3 October 2016.

The second phase of recruitment begins in October 2016. If you would like to be involved in the Trial, more information is below.
