As a monopoly provider of transmission and distribution network services, the amount of revenue we are able to earn from our customers each year is set by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER). In setting our revenue allowances, the regulator expects us to improve our business efficiency by reducing the costs of the services we provide while maintaining or improving the quality and reliability of our services.
This regulation exists primarily to protect electricity customers by ensuring specific performance standards and by capping revenues based on expected costs forecast during a regulatory period (usually five years).
Information on the AER’s process for our transmission and distribution regulatory determinations can be found at AER Regulatory Determinations.
